Let us
help you plan your activities. Ask about visiting the countless Etruscan
ruins or the Renaissance towns and cities nearby. Siena is just
50 minutes away, Florence only 1 ½ hours.
Or if you like to chill, soaking up the warm Mediterranean sun, we can help
you find hidden beaches and plan island excursions. The enchanting isles
of Elba and Giglio are just a short ferry ride away. Also worth discovering
along the coast of Maremma, are the picturesque fishing villages and famous
stone towers that once served as lookouts for Barbary pirates.
If a little R&R is in order, visit one of the many hot springs and
spas that surround us. And if you need a little activity to work up an appetite,
there's hiking, biking and golf and the possibility
to play tennis in and around our area.
We can also arrange for private tours of nearby wineries. The most
prestigious winemakers of Italy have recently moved here, establishing the
newest, most ambitious vineyards and cellars designed by world famous architects
such as Mario Botta and Renzo Piano. Why not make it a day of epicurean
delights and visit a local olive mill? The Green gold of Maremma, made only
for local consumption, is the pride of the region.
Or if you'd like a taste of the Wild West, saddle up and take a ride
with the Butteri, the legendary cowboys of Maremma. Buffalo Bill came with
his Wild West Show to a challenge match in Rome…. the Butteri won. They
will guide you through the vast Parco dell'Uccellina, the largest
natural reserve in Italy, stretching along the coastline.
The climate of the Maremma with its moderate Mediterranean mix due to its
close proximity to the sea is regarded by health authorities as one of the
best in the world.
Nature's strong presence is allover but interwoven with the cultivating
efforts of the people. Wildflowers and red poppies accompany the planting
of spring, sunflowers fields dominate during the grain harvest of summer,
in the fall there is the grape and olive harvest. |
